Autumn Dream
In Northern Minnesota we took a canoe trip in Voyageurs National Park. The day we arrived it was raining lightly and a very heavy fog sat over the lakes and rivers. It seemed our September vacation was not off to a very pleasant start. While standing on the dock waiting for our boat to come and shuttle us to Kettle Falls on the US/Canadian border, I took this picture of a small waterfall coming into the Ash river and the autumn colors reflecting off the water. The next three days were gloriously sunny and mild. The fall leaves were stunning and the blue water of the park lakes was truly just like a dream.

Just south of the Canadian border in Minnesota … Voyageurs National Park. We canoed two days but stayed the first night at Kettle Falls which is a VERY old (nice) hotel right at the border. In can only be accessed by boat. I am not sure but I think International Falls is not very far from there.

wow.. this is beautiful. great shot. Minnesota is beautiful. did you make it into the Quetico in southern Ontario? absolutely stunning. not very many people and lakes for as far as you can paddle.

Hello Matt… yes I have been to Quetico but not during this same trip (put in at Sullivan Bay). It is an entirely different experience! Quetico is true wilderness. We did not see a single person the whole time we were there. Voyageurs actually has signs posted and marked portage trails. It is beautiful, but “tame”. Thank you for your comments!
