This is a very poignant photograph and one that includes the viewer in the scene as our eye follows the direction in which your daughter is looking.
A good exposure rendering that soft light and contrast at times like this sets the scene.
The inclusion of the human element really makes this shot and your composition is very good indeed.
I do feel though that with some judicious use of the clone stamp in Photoshop that you could remove that distant bush so close to your daughter thereby making her even more prominent in the scene.
The depth of field is good as is the focus and the colours are so beautifully realisitic.

Please continue experimenting with black and white. Your initial effort is much more impressive than anything I have seen by Adams.
