Sparrow in a Spring Snowstorm
This little Chipping Sparrow perches on a branch with its feathers puffed up as a defense against the icy blast of a surprise Spring blizzard. Shot in my backyard in the apple orchard.
This image has sold as a framed print in Tigert Art Gallery of Vermillion, South Dakota as well as a matted print through RedBubble.

THanks Gigi! I envied his warm feathers so much while I was standing there shivering in the snow trying to get his picture!

Typical South Dakota scene. I get them in my lilac bushes all year round. You have really done a nice job of capturing this little gem of the prairie.
Dawne Olson replied
Thanks Scott.. first I’m thinking “just a sparrow?” but I never saw one do this sort of thing with his feathers! I guess he was a little chilly! Thanks for the view and favoriting him :0)
