So… does anybody think still think global warming isn’t a problem? I took this picture during mid-July of 2006. Coincidence? I think not!!

Hi is panting, and he could use a break in the cool.
It’s not cute, the little one’s in distress.
They find the coolest spot around and flatten themselves out on it. This little guy or girl even spread out her fingers and toes away from each other, and her tail’s limp, hanging over the stump. Maybe when the watering’s done after the sun sets it will cool off the earth enough to give all the little creatures a break.
I hope this sweet little one made it through the summer—it sure hurts to see this happen. (I used to pick up exhausted, hot birds off the roads and out of lawns, give them a few drops of water, and put them in bushes. So you know what kind of heart I have—S.O.F.T.!)

OK, I really don’t see anything funny with heat stroke animal. I don’t understand why ppl are laughing. I’ve never seen squirrel that exhausted. That’s isn’t natural pose for it. Hope you don’t find yourself in high temperature without any water feeling that way that you have to lay down on the ground cause you can’t walk anymore.

no need to delete it, Dana. if it actually died on the spot then yes i can see why it wouldn’t be funny, but it got up and left right after i took the picture anyway
and i have actually been in situations where i’ve been so overheated i ended up collapsing myself (I’m a native New Yorker living in California, after all)
the reason why people are finding it funny is because this is the kind of image you’d think you’d only see in cartoons
