Babaji, the Eternal Himalayan Sage

Posted about 3 years ago

There is a special place in my heart for Babaji.
(In India, baba means father, or holy man.
Ji is a suffix that implies affection, devotion)

Some say Babaji appeared to Yogi Jesus.
He also appeared to more contemporary saints such as Lahiri Mahasya, Sri Yukteswar Giri and Paramahansa Yogananda.

It is ironic that throughout history, saints have often appeared when there is time of crisis. Now Global…

Tribute to Sri Muktananda

Posted about 3 years ago

There is another extremely important mantra (power prayer) that is needed right now, April 2009.
Please pass this page along, brothers and sisters of Spirit, of the One.

I first heard this beautiful mantra during a visit to the Siddha Yoga Center in La Jolla, California. It is an invocation, and a tribute to Sri Muktananda of India….Master Yogi, Teacher and modern-day Saint.

The Gayatri Mantra

Posted about 3 years ago
Gayatri means “She who protects the singer”. (from gai, to sing and trai, to protect).

Gayatri is also one of the many names for the divine Mother.

This Mother protects her children, and leads them to self-realization.

My favorite story about the Gayatri mantra involves Deva Premal,

No more self-criticism. No I am bad, no I am good.

No more judgements.

the one sound that connects us all.
Aum also stands for the three states of consciousness: waking, dreaming and sleep (the fourth state, or turiya, being represented by the infinite silence after Aum is chanted).
In Christianity, Aum became au-men, or amen.

Meditation for Smarties (there are no dummies).

What is meditation anyway?

Any experience that brings you into a feeling of calmness and awareness is a meditation.

Many folks shy away from even the word. meditation, as it conjures an image of sitting immoble on a cushion.

My style of meditation often involves activity…..pehaps a walking meditation, or a mantra (word of power) meditation, or even a reading aloud meditation.

One of the bes…

yoga....the fountain of youth

Posted about 3 years ago

After 25 years as I medical doctor I have some wisdom I would like to share.

Put your energy into preventative medicine today. Do Yoga.

What is yoga? Perhaps it is not what you think. Empty your mind for a moment.
Take a deep breath.

The purpose of yoga is to “calm the fluctuations of the mind”, according to the sage Patanjali, author of The Yoga Sutras.
You may know that yoga means …
