the silent scream by

im re entering this one as i have made a better image and i have joined a new group that asks you to submit work that didnt get much attention this was acrilics on paper and was to have been part of a larger piece about intolerence and racism and how i would feel myself if i where black i wanted to show the frustration of injust predjudice not just black and white but right accross the board i didnt do a larger version as i felt i had got accross what i wanted but i did use the image as a cd cover

A very powerful image indeed, you have certainly put you point across, and so nicely done too. Instant fave for me x

  • its funny how an idea starts isnt it not being able to afford models to pose for me i used to flick through photo mags any mag in fact that had decent photos and built a libry of images to use as starting pionts this was inspred by a photo of american marines training they would line them up and makes them scream whilst at attention as soon as i saw this guy it trigered all sorts of images in my mind

This is powerful portraiture! Incredible work… I am speechless.

  • thanks im not sure if photography informs my artwork or art informs my photography but when i used to paint a lot of portraites i would always prefer to take a propelry posed and lit photo then paint a picture from that there is somthing about the way light works in a photo rather than natrual daylight and how it affects the way you try and capture the image rather than if you have a person in front of you i once heard a famouse photographer say that whereas most people think black and white photography is abstract he felt actually that colour photography is in fact abstract as when you really look at colour especialy as it was in the days of negative film the colours where always unatrual anyhow it was the graphic nature of this photo that i tried to capture
