I started photography around 30 years ago, and became interested in landscape photography after seeing the work of Derry Brabbs in “James Herriot’s Yorkshire”.

I live in Cumbria and take most of my photographs in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

    Looks stunning, I’ve not visited the corn exchange yet, but am guessing is not the same anymore. Great mono.

  • Thanks Martin. Yes, it has changed dramatically since that shot was taken.
    It was still being used (1 day a week I think) for trading corn. All the table had names like Quaker Oats on them.
    The rooms on the balcony were occupied by small businesses like tailors and solicitors, but the place was always very quiet, and you could hear a pin drop as you walked around.
    As I mentioned, it reopened as a shopping centre in 1990, with a hole cut in the floor to allow the creation of a cafe in the basement, and extra stairs up to the balcony.
    There are some pics of it as it is today next to mine in the Leeds City group if you haven’t seen them.
