I have held back from submitting this piece for a couple of months now because I, myself, have always been leary of people who have claimed to see the face of Jesus on their grilled cheese snadwich or the Virgin Mary on a frosted window pane. Having said that, I am going to tell you about this piece. You can choose to believe it or not. And I even invite you to put this piece thru reverse processes in Photoshop so that you can see for yourself that the piece has not been tampered with to create the cross that is in the middle of the photo. But on with the story. My cousin, Dean Smith, is a pastor of a small impoverished Baptist church in Chilhowie, Virginia. He, also, maintains a full time job and cares for his disabled wife, Francis. On top of all that, they have a grandson who is being deployed to Iraq (thank you George Bush) this month. Well, Dean had sent me some cd’s of some of his sermons, so I sat down at my computer one day to listen to them and figured I would dabble with some art at the same time. While I was manipulating a piece of art, my mind really wasn’t on what I was doing. I was going through the motions burt was mainly thinking about my cousin and his situation. As I was listening to him talking about his unwaivering faith in God, I remembered thinking to myself, how could God put such heavy burdens on him? That is when I took a good look at what I was doing to my art piece and noticed for the first time that from out of nowhere a cross had appeared in the middle of the photo. The original photo that this one was minipulated from was a circle of orange, yellow, and blue on a black background . I have that photo, too. Nowhere in the original photo is there a hint of a cross. Was this God’s answer to me when I was questioning Him about Dean’s burdens? Draw your own conclusions on that.
