Sugar Loaf under Seige

Sugar Loaf under Seige

One of the most photographed seascapes in Western Australia, Sugarloaf Rock is in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park. This impressive rock formation dominates the coastline near Cape Naturaliste.

You can see experienced rock fishermen taking up the challenge from the edge of the rock – but the powerful swell is not for amateurs.

This weekend’s weather was furious, and the display against this rock formation was just awesome to watch. Not the best shot in the world, but not too shabby considering the conditions.

Hope you like ;o)

Excellent timing, if your weather is anything like ours up here in Singleton, then there would have been some fabulous opportunities .
    This is just magnificent

  • Danielle Knight replied

thank you so much, it was pretty awesome up there. We got so wet from all the spray, i could hardly stand still to take the shot the wind was so strong, it was pretty funny, lucky we were the only there (again).

Knowing just how high Sugarloaf is makes it possible to really appreciate this spray and what a great photo you have got of it. We go down there two or three times a year and almost without fail it is flat calm! LOL A super piece of work. Peter

  • Danielle Knight replied

lol, cant say I have ever seen it as rough as this either, it was great fun to watch, not so great for the camera lens though :o) Thanks for stopping by Peter :o)

I love this Danielle, you’ve done a fabulous job :-)
I wonder how it would have looked with the ND400 and a slow exposure?

  • Danielle Knight replied

Hi Matt, I was so keen to use the ND400, that was my original plan, however the conditions were just too horrid. I could hardly hold my feet steady enough to take the shot, there is no way even with my tripod could the camera hold steady enough for any kind of slow exposure.

We were probably facing 100km/h gusts of wind, the spray off the rock fairly smacked you in the face. It was fun lol

Like you, I am left to wonder :o)) Another day
