A great blue heron gracefully glides over a marshy wetland.
Wetlands are an important ecosystem that act as a natural filtration system for our ground water and a sponge for heavy rain and water run-off. They are habitat for all kinds of birds and other wildlife.
Wow, Doug! What a shot! And your colors are brilliant against each other! The diversity of shapes in the water with the lilly pods are set off so beautifully as well, by the “quietness” of the gold grasses that silhouette the heron.
Thank-you Pat! It turned out well considering it all happened so fast.

Fantastic, Doug! Most, most excellent!
Thanks Maureen. I spotted the bird, and as I was quickly swapping my lens, someone spooked it. This was the shot I got in flight.
