I have been an artist my whole life. As a very small child I was always drawing or singing or making things in my fathers shop. As I grew older I migrated towards music and found myself playing guitar and singing in a signed, professional metal band. We rocked and toured and rocked more.
Years pass… I now live in a totally different place with a beautiful wife and little girl. We are happy. I am still creative and find myself still playing guitar and making music. I have been to Burning Man more times than I can remember and love participating in art creation there. I also attend Flipside, a smaller, more personal version of B.M.. Art creation is real and tangible… something people can enjoy and take with them if maybe only in their memories.
Photography is an “old” new found form of creative expression for me. I minored in photography in college and have dabbled on and off throughout the years. The birth of my daughter (almost two years ago) prompted me to purchase a new, fancy digital camera. I remembered how much I enjoyed seeing the world through the lens. So in essence, the birth of my daughter was the catalysis for my rebirth into photography. Of course I have the cutesy, baby pictures but I often find myself focusing my lens elsewhere.
I have always loved the look and feel of old photographs of times gone by. The old, cracked and distressed images of yesteryear always draw my attention. Many of my photos are manipulated for hours on end to recreate this old timey retro feel. I think that everybody has a nostalgic bone that enjoys seeing an old photo… especially if its one that they can relate to in modern terms.
Please take a look at my work and by all means, let me know what you think. Feedback is a crucial element for creative growth.
Thank you for reading all of this.
