Several trails meander around the slopes of Haleakala but many areas are unnavigable. Here is a view of the mountain volcano from the Kanao Reserve area or Ahihi Kinau Natural Preserve, which is located between Ahihi Bay and La Perouse Bay. There is much A’a lava in the area which makes it very difficult, if not nearly impossible, to walk.
