I decide to try charcoal and sanguine powder on a biggish canvas

    I haven’t used charcoal and sanguine powder before. The effect is staggering, do you apply with a brush or with your fingers? Do you apply it wet or dry? The scratching and rubbing back stokes adds to its overall looseness. I just love all your work.

  • sanguine first – fixed – then charcoal in many layers
    brush mainly – with stick
    applied dry
    wet seems harder to rub off when dry and rubbing/scratching off is important
