I love the decayed walls and doors on Venice! This one pen and ink with some gesso and Schminke Watercolour on Medoc Velin paper( Ruscomb Mill)
venice, doorway, watercolou
Beautfiully painted watercolour, love the colours you have used and the textures you have created in this..anna : )
thanks for your kind comments!
Excellent pen and watercolour (I’ll have to see what type Schminke is). You’ve superbly conveyed the quality, and rough weather-beaten look, of this old Italian architecture.
thanks – Schminke is ( obviously :-) ) a German watercolour – I really like the way it “sits” on the paper…
I’ve just had a look online- it looks just right for my watercolours – but it’s way out of my pocket! I’ll have to stick to my Cotman and Ashby pans.
the difference is amazing – worth trying – and Girtin only used five colours so that cannot be too expensive!
I’ve just bought a set of 17 quid, St Petersburg 24 pan colours, which were called ‘artist quality’. But they are variable – some of the vile greens and blues, cannot be lifted out! I have to cover it in Gouache. Lifting is 90% of my painting!
well you know the maths – how many tubes af artists quality would that buy!!if you do a lot of lifting out look at Winsor and Newton Lift Out medium ….
Wow! this is beautiful…I love the colors and treatment!! :-)
thanks for your kind comment!
