A Cactus Wren perched on the branch of a cactus in Cave Creek, AZ. (better viewed large)
The State bird of Arizona, Cactus Wrens are the largest North American wren ranging from 7 – 8 1/4". They prefer to sleep-in allowing early morning bird watchers to surprise them still dozing in their nests – I am not an early morning bird watcher : )
