Striking by Daniel J. McCauley IV

This one was close! Not thrilled with the f/g, but what can you do. I was out shooting in the opposite direction when without warning the storm got behind me. I was able to capture this bolt striking Black Mountain before heading for cover.

Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona.

Canon 20D w/ 28-135 IS USM @28mm.
Thanks for looking.

Nice. What did that bolt on the left hit? Looks pretty close.

  • Yeah, it was closer than I would have liked. The one on the left hit a cactus on the side of a small mountain. I wish you could see a close-up, as the lightning lit that area up you can see all the surrounding cacti on the mountain. Thanks Drec!

Great shot Dan; now you’ll have to try to get a shot of lightening hitting that great big sundial.

  • lol… That would be pretty cool! Thanks much, Tim!

    Very nice Daniel :)
I had a similar ‘incident’ recently where it was a little too close for comfort, so I can appreciate your concern.
Happy hunting for the next one. :)

  • lol… yeah, it can get a bit scary. As long as your luck doesn’t run out it’s all good : ) Thanks, Matt!
