Striking

This one was close! Not thrilled with the f/g, but what can you do. I was out shooting in the opposite direction when without warning the storm got behind me. I was able to capture this bolt striking Black Mountain before heading for cover.

Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona.

Canon 20D w/ 28-135 IS USM @28mm.
Thanks for looking.

Nice. What did that bolt on the left hit? Looks pretty close.

  • Daniel J. McCa... replied

Yeah, it was closer than I would have liked. The one on the left hit a cactus on the side of a small mountain. I wish you could see a close-up, as the lightning lit that area up you can see all the surrounding cacti on the mountain. Thanks Drec!

    This is a good capture…

  • Daniel J. McCa... replied

Thanks, Dennis… Sadly, this is an old shot – nothing so far this year. Usually by now we’ve had most of our thunderstorms, this year they never started (at least in my neck of the woods).
