*Summer Tanager* (Female)
An Autumn migrant for us in the Valley floor. Pine forests of the Southwest ring with the burry caroling of Summer Tanager, a bird also found in mixed woodlands and in ripiarian willow-cottonwood corridors. This western subspecies is larger and larger-billed than the niminate. This arboreal forager often searches and chases out after bees or wasps. Removing the stinger before eating.
Voice Song a set of modulated and whistling phrases similar to an American Robin. Call is a distinctive Pl-ti-tuk, sometimes with more syllables.
