Prairie Falcon

Taken in Marana,AZ

A falcon of open habittats and canyon lands, Prairie Falcons hunt rodents and birds by shallow-angled swoops from low to the ground, rather than by the high-altitude stoops of Peregrine Falcon. Young Peregrines can look very similar to Prairie Falcon but have longer, darker tails and never show Prairie’s underwing pattern. Prairie Falcon is almost unknown wast of the Mississippi River and appears to be declining in many areas of the West

VOICE Similar to the Peregrine but a bit highter

My goal is to get my name out there among the vast ocean of Natural photographers. To be known for my skill with a Point & Shoot~

My images are not photo shopped. They have only been adjusted with basic sharpening, contrasting & saturation techniques. I believe that in order to appreciate Nature, you have to capture it as it is, naturally.

We have only one kind of Falcon here in Florida, its called a Crested Caracara, and it still doesn’t remind me of what a Falcon is suppose to look like, like this one. Fine shot!

  • I have seen only one of those here in AZ for two seasons in the same fields. Nothing as of this season, but it is still early for him to show up! These Praires are a beautiful raptor. So graceful in there flight and hunt it just takes your breath away! Thank you dear friend!
