The saddlebags are a genus of 22 medium to large, well marked species that occur in both the Eastern and Western hemispheres.

Red and Black Saddlebags are familiar Southwest species. seen most frequently at lake edges and ponds. Both spend much of the day in flight, but watch for them hanging in vegetation near the water or perched on the tips of tall weeds or shrubs in weedy fields. By late morning, males and females are often seen flying in tandem, the male protecting the female from the sexual advances of other males. The united pairs almost seem to bouns along the waters surface, the male holding onto her with his terminal appendages then releasing herbriefly as she deposits her eggs in the water.

My goal is to get my name out there among the vast ocean of Natural photographers. To be known for my skill with a Point & Shoot~

My images are not photo shopped. They have only been adjusted with basic sharpening, contrasting & saturation techniques. I believe that in order to appreciate Nature, you have to capture it as it is, naturally.

Well caught! The wings are most unusual.

  • That they are, scared me before I realized what it was. Though they don’t stay still very long, they have no fear of flying close enough to spook, thank you !
