This sparrow is restricted to sagebrush plains and especially short grass and mixed-grass prairies of the Great Plains. Habitats that have been lost to agricultural over the past 150 years. It forms relatively large winter flocks that forage in dry plains and deserts.

  • The male Lark Bunting is the only sparrow that completely changes plumage from distinctive breeding colors to plain winter ones.
  • It is the state bird of Colorado.
  • A group of buntings are collectively known as a “decoration”, “mural”, and “sacrifice” of buntings.

VOICE Song a long, slow, odd concatation of cardinal-like, sweet notes; chat like fusses, and dry, electric buzzes. Often given in flight display. Calls include a sweet, low tyew or tyew-ee and a wiry buzz.

My goal is to get my name out there among the vast ocean of Natural photographers. To be known for my skill with a Point & Shoot~

My images are not photo shopped. They have only been adjusted with basic sharpening, contrasting & saturation techniques. I believe that in order to appreciate Nature, you have to capture it as it is, naturally.
