Taken at Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum during Raptor Free Flight Demonstrations in Tucson,Az

A widespread but usually scarce species, Barn Owl can be found in almost any open habitat in which prey and nesting sites are available, from deserts to farms to marshes. It preys on mice and on other rodents .

Barn Owl are strikingly pale below and sometimes mistaken for the diurnal snowy owl,but its buff and gray upperparts, dark eyes in a white facial disc, and long legs set it apart from other American Owls. This species is strictly nocturnal and rarely observed in flight even at dusk.

VOICE a bone-chilling, screeching hiss, often given in flight; similar to begging cries of fledglings of many larger owls but usually with less nasal quality.

My goal is to get my name out there among the vast ocean of Natural photographers. To be known for my skill with a Point & Shoot~

My images are not photo shopped. They have only been adjusted with basic sharpening, contrasting & saturation techniques. I believe that in order to appreciate Nature, you have to capture it as it is, naturally.

Kimberly you are really getting good at these montages. beautiful images all of them. I’m kinda partial to the barn owl though :-)

  • Thank you Rich! My sister-in-law is a teacher and we talked about ideas for making educational posters for her class. So I am going to be playing with that idea and see what comes of it. I thank you for the great support Rich, it always means so much to me!
