The largest North American bay Duck, Canvasback is declining but still relatively common. This species breeds from from the lower tundra of Canada into prairie marshes of the northern Great Plains; it winters mostly on coasts and in the southern U.S. on lakes, bays, rivers, and lagoons, often in large flocks and sometimes with other bay ducks.

VOICE Male; usually silent; in displays gargling gobble with occasional peeping. Female: a burry, braying call, repeated.

My goal is to get my name out there among the vast ocean of Natural photographers. To be known for my skill with a Point & Shoot~

My images are not photo shopped. They have only been adjusted with basic sharpening, contrasting & saturation techniques. I believe that in order to appreciate Nature, you have to capture it as it is, naturally.

You really caught this fellow’s proudest feature – that rusty head & neck. Set off so perfectly by the green water. Fine job.

  • Thanks Sheila! Not as good as it should be, but had to show him off~?
