Coues White-tailed Deer

Madera Canyon, AZ~ Canon Powershot SH40HS, Sept. 2013

An important food and clothing source for the Native Americans and pioneers, this largely distributed deer populated much of the continent south of the Hudson Bay.

Small and graceful, they earn the name from its long, broad tail which is brown above and white below. raising it as a warning on the run. A mother may also use it to signal to her fawns as to where she is located.

Their diet consists of a wide range including branches, leaves, twigs, etc. always alert to the possible dangers around them. When danger approaches, the tail goes up and they are off! up to speeds of forty miles an hour and are very strong swimmers.

Does give birth to up 3 fawns each spring season. Fawns are hidden in the grasses for the first week, their spotted coats helping them to blend in. They will quickly triple their birth weight in the first month.

My goal is to get my name out there among the vast ocean of Natural photographers. To be known for my skill with a Point & Shoot~

My images are not photo shopped. They have only been adjusted with basic sharpening, contrasting & saturation techniques. I believe that in order to appreciate Nature, you have to capture it as it is, naturally.
