Black-tailed Jackrabbit

Marana, AZ using a Canon Powershot SX40HS

Common throughout the Southwest, is not a rabbit but a hare. Buffy gray to sandy above peppered with black with a white belly. The tail has a black stripe above extending to the rump with a white border. Very long ears brownish with black tips. As with most hares, very large hind feet.

Ranging from Texas to California to South-central Washington. Their habitats are barren areas and prairies, meadows, etc. Anywhere vegatation exceeds height of two feet.

Their young are born fully furred, eyes open and able to hop after mom within a few hours. Resting in dense vegetation or in shallow depressions by day to become active late in the afternoon.

My goal is to get my name out there among the vast ocean of Natural photographers. To be known for my skill with a Point & Shoot~

My images are not photo shopped. They have only been adjusted with basic sharpening, contrasting & saturation techniques. I believe that in order to appreciate Nature, you have to capture it as it is, naturally.
