Can you say bee guard?

Can you say bee guard?

Ok, well seems that I am victim of my own ignorance. I walked outside to watch my feeders and low and behold I found more than I bargained for. The africanized honey bees found the feeders and I managed to get a few shots off before more arrived. I did purchase bee guard but they don’t fit this feeder. So I took the feeders down for a few days in hopes that I can put them out once they have moved on.

I agree, about an hour later they were hanging off each other and within the hour they drain the feeders! I called Bee Busters I was so shocked! Thank you….lol

great shot regardless!! I know the feeling about these hummingbird feeders!! I had the same problem, took it down for a few days, put it back up and they came back ten fold!! I did some research and found out that now alot of manufacturers don’t make the feeders with the color yellow (it attracts the bees apparently) any more. My feeder has the red flowers but with yellow centers and they were all over it.. The part that holds the nectar also has yellow hand painted flowers on it.. I didn’t purchase a non-yellow feeder yet.. but I’m willing to try anything!

Thanks for the info, I will look into it. The gal I talked to told me due to the lack of rain in our part of the desert, the bees are getting desperate. They said that the hives they have had to remove are all red due to the bees invading the feeders more than usual looking for food and water source. I appreciate the insight and food for thought as well as the comment, Thank you
