If I Should Ever Write a Villanelle

something different from my usual writes…

a villenelle of what I would write if I was to write a villanelle…

If I Should Ever Write a Villanelle belongs to the following groups:

Live, Love, Dream: and Parallel Dimensions

If I should ever write a villanelle,
Then may I plant a seed of thought to grow
From the root of my contemplative well.

May the flood of thought swell
For each blooming seed I drop below
If I should ever write a villanelle.

May each drop cast a spell
Of flourishing rhythmic sound and flow
From the root of my contemplative well.

May this magical stream compel
The singing of its song wherever it will go
If I should ever write a villanelle.

May its vital music ring a bell
To those who experience a refreshing undertow
From the root of my contemplative well.

May your experiences wash away your living hell
With the intent to drown whatever hell you know
If I should ever write a villanelle
From the root of my contemplative well.

Like I said in my description of this: this one is “something different than my usual writes”. But I tend not to just write in any one particular way or style or topic.

A villanelle is a 19-line 2 rhyme, 2 repeating line poem with the end rhmye scheme:
    A1, b, A2
    a, b, A1
    a, b, A2
    a, b, A1
    a, b, A2
    a, b, A1, A2
where the A stands for the repeated lines (A1 being the 1st; A2 being the 2nd) & the lowercase letters represent the non-repeated lines with end rhyming.

You’d probably like my “Look into my Eyes”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/discoverme/writing/1454001-look-into-my-eyes poem. It’s more of a break-up poem that has a more direct approach w/ more of a…”hollow”…feeling to it.

    Excellent….this nightmare….is actually beautiful…one that I would not mind having…..hugs:)

  • DiscoverMe replied

Oh, no; not a nightmare this is.
More of an internal healing (perhaps “spiritual” in its own way?)/ meant to “wash away” the nightmares going on in real life.

sorry…I though the meaning of Villanelle was nightmare, however this does make sense….and very well written…I love looking at it as a spiritual healing to wash away the nightmare or ugliness that we see sometimes in real life….anyway as always….love your words…hugs:)

Villanelles, simply put, literally used to be considered “country songs” from the “villas” off where farmers used to live…back when there were still troubadours sang their musical sounding poetic lyrics to pass on to others.

Then it became a poetic form during a 16th century Renaissance where a Frenchman introduced the rest of the world (or at least European writers) with this “new” style of writing.

My oh my how Country music has changed, nowadays, eh, hahahaha!!

:).....wow….you sure have a way with words….you should be a teacher, however you may be since i’m not really sure what your profession is except that you are a hell of a writer….......thanks for the history lesson…..hugs to you my friend:)

I work with herbs ‘n’ shrooms…and other shrubber, er, I mean…GREENeries, hahaha…along with fruits ‘n’ roots to boot.
(a.k.a: I’m an Asst. Mgr. of a Produce dept. at an all-natural grocery store: Earth Fare.)
A number of my co-workers have become “familiar” with some of my “sex” poems (or “porn writing” as some of the non-artistic types prefer to call it…not knowing the differences between erotic & pornographic…). It’s the kind of stuff (and the way I present it) that tends to be “unforgetable” in other peoples’ minds impish grin

But as you know, I DO have OTHER kinds of writes, y’know ;-)
