She’s beautiful,as is the portrait. How perfectly do her eyes match her clothing.Wonderful detail. All those lines of laughter and sadness and joy,of a life lived.Beautiful.
This such an awesome shot. A favorite for sure. I love the detail and how the face is isolated. I want to know more about her … so not just an image … a story! Well Done!!
I worked for 4 weeks as a volunteer in Hoi An in Central Vietnam in Dec 2005. I split my time between a baby orphanage & a primary school in the day time and took a few adult classes at night. After being there for a week people worked out i was not a fly by tourist and started to warm up and chat with me rather than sell to me. I’d often go to the market to buy food or goods or simply ride by to go teach my adult class and the same people who recognise me and smile, except for one lady. She never sold anything, so just sit out the front of the markets. She would not smile, she barely looked my way, when others around her would wave. In my final days i plucked up the courage to ask her if i could take her photo and she asked me for money. I said no and looked at her, she stared right back. I swung my camera round and took the shot and she kept staring. I smiled and walked on. I turned back a few seconds later and she was still staring and the place in which i was standing in front of her. ;o)
Everyone has a story…..her facial features, her eyes, the wrinkles in her face, the asymmetry of her posed lips….this is a lovely photo…excellent shot!
