The jobs of the firemen have drastically changed from saving the houses of those in need to burning the ones owned by people who had courage enough to stand up to a conformists government, that is brainwashing its people robing them of all emotion creativity and freedoms that the government finds inappropriate. A brave few who have saved some of the books the government decides are inappropriate and should be burned ( the firemen’s job).
Have taken a stand and try to change what there world has become.

The authors underlying message in all this is to separate your self from conformity don’t follow the crowed stand up for what is right what you believe in speak for toughs who have been silenced and can no longer carry on the fight.
Stand up and be heard even if it may lead to trouble if its not worth dying for it is not a cause that is worth any thing.

Throw away the doubts in your self let your views be seen and heard If you do not Really Believe in what you are saying it makes you just as bad if not worse than the people trying to run you down and make you a slave of industry distracting you with on hand ( the tv walls the ear plugs etc…. mentioned in the book)
while systematically raping your liberties you rights and your ability to express your self. Making you a mindless drown that dose what ever they have been pre programed to do
conformity as the author tries to tell us dulls your wits makes your sense of right and wrong become hazed and manipulated (example) the teens in the book Drive around in there betels and they enjoy hitting the people walking down the street they find it fun.
Thus the author is telling us To stand up for what you believe in don’t let others distract you from your goals( as the subway and betty try to do to Montag.)

Conformity and censorship are good for some things but not all things. To unite as the scholars and old college professors had to fight for one common goal not corrupted by industry. When it can be the best thing in the world. When you stand up to fight for what you know is right and your willing to see it through to the end it is a cause that you can come to gather with others that have and share your one common purpose of freeing your mind and expanding your knowledge to seek out the unknown. But s there is to much we can fid our selves being sheep that follow with out any thought to what we are doing every one just following that one black sheep the one different from the crowed over a cliff.

If there is no one left that is an individual there inst any thing spontaneous in the world evert thing becomes old and boring things become recycled to the point of being no where near what there original idea they sprang from was.
Things become dull and pointless.

Following with no knowledge of what and why you must follow makes you a sheep but eve a worse sheep than the one that has lead the rest over the cliff by following blindly you have enabled them that one sheep to weald a power that robs you of your right and your freedom to think for your self
