"A Waterfall" 1986-01-19

He sits, looking out the window
at the top of the city,
the world spread out below
it all looks so pretty

But he doesn’t see the beauty
or feel the breeze on his face
all he knows is animosity
and ostracism from the human race

There he sits, a man alone
No-one notices if he dies
There he sits, beside the phone
No-one notices as he cries.

He’s tried giving out affection
but you can’t tolerate constant rejection
Slowly his heart bleeds
for the love it needs

His soul, a waterfall
stuck in a cruel desert
Surely someone must call
with a thirst unmeasured
and rescue him from death unloved

Look around you
see the place we live in.
Show some love too
For a passing stranger
could be in emotional danger
a passing stranger
could sit alone…
