From the ski slopes of Zacopane what a privilege to see this incredible sunset light on the incredible Tatra mountains straddling the Polish/Slovakian borders..

Formed at the same time as the Alps … this part of the Carpathian mountains has the same rocky features and giddying 2000m drops from the narrow jaggy ridges. It was thankfully windless sunshine when we went up to that far ridge the following day..

Since the 50’s there’s been a protective crossborder national park (& UNESCO biosphere) here in this lovely area straddling Poland and Slovakia to protect the wildlife which reportedly includes lynxes, eagles, chamois, marmots and brown bears even! A stunning area so well worth a visit from either side ..

Cheers and thanks so much for looking
