… 2000m up in the Tatra mountains south of the Polish ski resort Zacopane on the Slovakian border. Part of the Carpathian mountains they were formed at the same time as the Alps and have the same rocky features..

Giddying drops all the way down on either side of a well defined 2’ wide track left me desperately wishing i’d brought my walking poles for added confidence and stability.. some photo stops found me cowering hugging the trig point after i put the camera away….LOL. . :))

Conditions were a perfect zero degreest this October .(midway in their range of -40Cto30C) but walking bare armed was a joy in the still and thankfully windless sunshine..

A cross border national park (& UNESCO biosphere) was created here to protect the wildlife including lynxes, eagles, chamois, marmots and brown bears even!

Nikon D60
Nikkor VR 18-200 lens
UV or polariser (cant remember)
steadied on a gorilla pod

Cheers and thanks so much for looking .. really appreciate it

OH yoiu are braver then me walking over those ridges. Burt what a view and experience.
The gorillia pod you used was it a large one just looking at your lens size and camera as wondering if the bigger ones are good for larger camrea and lens : )

  • hi karen it was funny while i had the camera to my eye i felt fine – just as soon as i put it away i got more nervous.. lol….and the gorilla stand was the larger dslr type as my lens is quite long and weighty – most of the time i had the legs propped on my shoulder to stabilise it.. if that helps – thanks heaps for your lovely interest
    :))))
