This really is such a great photo…..I love heavy rain fall. It seems to fill me up with emotion…...the good kind. This looks as if the motors have their heads down to avoid getting rain in their eyes…....FANTASTIC SHOT!!

yeah – you’d need a really big umbrella for this one. LOL

thanks rob it was exhilarating to see – from the shelter of the car..went to fetch my kit and had to stay for the duration…LOL .. water bouncing in both side windows so nearly had to bale out…LOL.. just glad it didnt catch us out on the water.. it killed the wind so would have needed to bale AND paddle..LOL

As a side benefit to sitting in that downpour, that’s actually a decent texture for a treatment Maggie !

this is good maggie, I especially like the Rescue boats in the shot as anybody daft enough to go out in the water would definately need to be rescued. Hope you had a toddy when you got home after this. lol. x

I disagree about your comment ‘not great art’... this one is very interestingly lit… it looks tragic, like an emergency scene with the rescue boats in the pouring rain.

It truly does… I imagined a very emotional scene just out of frame…

Oh, I love this! I think it’s great art, and I can hear and almost smell the rain. This is MY kind of weather. We’re having a mini-version of this right now, but (and I guess this is good) no lake in the back as I gaze at the rain. The “Rescue” looks particularly ironic on each boat. Well done!

There is something extra to an image such as this. More than just the subject matter or the abstract marks made by the rain. Or the tighten ing of the composition caused by the boats placed so well at the top of the image. Perhaps it is a combination of disparate elements coming together that make it such a wonderful image.
