'L'
The view to march wood in a torrential downpour one August evening at St Mary’s Loch in the lovely scottish borders. The orange mark known simply as ‘L’ and used for the sailing clubs weekly dinghy races has never looked cleaner…
The southern upland way a longdistance walk from coast to coast across scotland follows the shoreline to Tibbies Shiels Inn at the end of the 2 mile long loch…
Thanks so much for looking
cheers

Good eye, Maggie! I love this shot. Many possible stories one could dream up about this almost other-worldly view. Beautifully composed, too.

very atmospheric and great SC
dinghysailor1 replied
hi dave.. thanks .. yes it had an atmosphere all of its own last night .. felt like really extreme weather and so glad we werent caught out on the water.. had been planning a sunset sail too.. LOL
Thanks for the compliment but havent tweaked the colour.. pure luck!
Robin Brown
Ah Tibbie she was a character indeed. Sir Walter Scott & Rabbie Burns were regular visitors if I’m not mistaken. I could be mistaken but I’m reasonably sure I’m correct. If you go into the Tibbie Shiels Inn you can see a photograph of the Grey Mares Tail when it froze up in the 1980’s.
Oh by the way Dinghy, cracking shot!! Looks like a selective colouring shot but I know its not. Its another ‘Untouched’ I can tell!! XX
dinghysailor1 replied
thanks robin you’re the Oracle !! on all things! including no sc.. rather an impromptu one provided by mother nature…
cheers

You were very productive for the conditions. I once read that bad weather makes good photographs. This proves it.

lol thanks steve.. guess its the badder the better…and just glad i could snatch these in the brief moments i dared open the window..

Sue Buckingham
You are a brave girl going out in that weather!! I initially thought it was a balloon in the middle of the road and that you were lying on the ground to get the shot. Then I thought, well shes mad, but shes not that mad! And then I read the write up :) Great shot Ding xx
dinghysailor1 replied
chuckling here at the picture you saw.. and thanks for the vote of confidence.. but i might just be that mad you know…hehehee…of course it was bone dry just up the road and hadnt rained at all when i got home..

Wow that is quite a storm you captured…love the balloon appearing to be stuck by the weather!
dinghysailor1 replied
thanks kc it certainly was – quite a storm!! yes it does look like a balloon pinned to the road by the rain doesnt it…but its a racing marker buoy anchored in the loch ... also realise too late it looks like a red bubble…LOL
thanks so much for your lovely visits.. great to see you!
cheers

LOL thanks jaffa loved your comment and yes i got stuck in my car when i went for my camera.. .. so managed to snap thru a fleetingly opened window from there.. no way was i getting out in that …LOL.
