poppy

Its an experiment…trying for selective colour in a crop of wild beauty
and after wrestling for hours with a pesky lasso i managed to briefly subdue it (a first!) and then fumbled the keyboard…arriving somehow at this after rubbing out some scruffy bits.
Comments most welcome (will brace myself) and especially tips would be much appreciated!
Thanks for looking !
Cheers

This a beautiful piece of art. Caught my eye right away. Composition has a perfect flow and balance..the eye moves through the image…starting and ending with the powerful pop of Red poppy. A fav 4 sure.
Lois Bryan
Maggie, I’ve got a couple of dozen poppy shots in my computer … just this gorgeous red … but they were taken out in the field … on a breezy day … and I’m not happy with the dof … plus … I apparently don’t do red very well (LOL) ... so anytime I see a really good poppy shot my mouth just waters!!!! Not to mention your EXTREMELY clever artistic treatment!!! Yes, sweetie, it’s good enough!!!! Now, run to enter it into some groups, too!!!!!

as a musician and artist these are the happy accidents that we have to regonise and leave in the japanese poters and artsists of old instead of throwing away imperfect pots as a disaster would embrace the imperfection as a gift they allso would leave slight imperfections in thier work believing that only the gods where perfect and did not want to oofend them by trying to out do them often when i am mixing or recording somthing will happen i may play a wrong note or drop somthing out by accident in the mix and it will make the traCK OR MAKE ME THINK IN ANOTHER DIRECTION (hit that caps btn again)
dinghysailor1 replied
thanks again for your thoughtful comments… really appreciate you taking the time…

This works, and works beautifully. You make a strong case for tackling that damn lasso tool, too. Did you use a Wacom or Cintiq tablet? Love the minimalism.

that’s awesome!!! it works out really well. it’s so versatile in a commercial point of view. totally worth all the hours and effort you put in. as for suggestions, i would recommend just taking the poppy and shooting it in a high key studio set up hahahaha. i’m so lazy. i hate post production and things like that. so i have huge respect for this poppy of yours!! well done.

cheers adam.. your lovely comment made my day!it took me a week or so to track back and find what lucky key i’d pressed ….LOL…. but really wouldnt know where to start with the build….sounds even harder than photoshop..teehee…
