quiet afternoon
Grey it may have been but stunningly quiet and beautiful all the same as we sat outside Britains’ remotest mainland pub in the tiny hamlet of Inverie on the knoydart peninsula, in Scotland
Taken mid afternoon a couple of hours before the dusk shot of perfect anchorage
and my hasty escape from the dreaded west coast midgies!

ooh I wish kell !! just came in with the vital supply boat this time but I have sailed in previously, blown up an inflatable and rowed ashore – trouble was clouds of bloodthirsty midgies stowed away going back and boarded us …worse than pirates they were…

Maggie, you’ve done it again. This is just beautiful. The three boats, the fog, the mountain, and the sky all act together perfectly. What a place to sit and have a pint, or read, or just wool-gather, and what a capture of it. Excellent !

Sounds a lot like here… the quietest and remotest part of southeast Alaska… no roads in… in fact no roads here in town either… you either sail or fly in… No pubs either, unfortunately!! Lots of local get-togethers, tho! You’d LOVE IT!!

oooh sounds wonderful!! there’s a pub here with ceidlidhs every night … local musicians and instruments to share……but bet your get togethers are similarly great fun!! however we have the dreaded midgies… which just about make grown men weep… certainly they run away from the pesky wee beasties… ;))
