look out
The evening light catching the sails and (if you look closely ) a little figure on the yardarm as this tallship the Jantje glides out of cherbourg harbour at dusk.
And (Skyfox’s idea!) here is a b&w version posted 1/10/08 – let me know what you think!
cheers… ding

Too Cool. Square rigged, twin mast (Schooner?). They never pointed up wind worth a damn. But your shot is right on. Yeah in my youth I’d have loved to climb the top and shoot a few clicks down while underway. Now,,,well maybe hoist a camera with a cable and pulley with a delayed shutter. Kudos and atta girls. Keep the wind at your back!.

I was sure I’d left a comment Ding but I just checked & I don’t see one. Your Boats bigger than I thought. Would that be Cpt Jack Sparrow stealing the Black Pearl from your moorings. Maybe one day you’ll take me out for a spin. This is a magnificent ship & a superb shot. XX

Brilliant shot Maggie! Jantje – a Dutch clipper? A beautiful sailing ship!
Roslyn Lunetta, about 1 month ago
me I prefer the color unless you do a color isolation and keep the ship as color, b&w the water and sky or do the whole shot in sepia tone, and I saw the little guy before you pointed him out, kinda cracked me up.
Jonicool, about 1 month ago
Beautiful capture!

thanks roslyn for your so thoughtful comments – yes the little gy was sitting swinging his legs on a yardarm as they left harbour and maybe was up there to unfurl the topsail… I think I go for the colour myself as it shows the sails catching the last light of the day… :) Your other suggestions may be great practise round the software one winters night!!
cheers
