Moira McClaren’s childhood was spent in the rural areas of South Australia and later in the arid outback of the Northern Territory before moving to her present home in Magill.
The isolated environment developed in her a keen sense of the importance of space, colour, area and mass formed by both nature and mankind.

Moira was always a painter and drawer through her formative years, but it was during the early seventies when formal studies at the South Australian School of Art, North Adelaide, directed the student artist into life drawing, illustration and painting that she began to develop her own style of work.
