Artist's Description

KABUKI-CHO

Tucked behind one of the world’s busiest stations a series of tight, dimly lit lanes make up Tokyo’s Kabuki-Cho District. Since the Second World War this area, locally referred to as ”piss alley”, has somehow avoided the surge towards the future that the rest of Tokyo has embraced.

As day turns to night the many bars and guesthouses become a sanctuary to local spivs, madames andsex workers. Mingling among them are the curious “salary men” whose loosened inhibitions fuel the all night trade.
