Pieces of my story by dimarie
For the longest time it was hard to be me
ostracised and critisised, abused beat down and victimised
A lifetime, a few, of being one who
would take the crap…
Now its different, Now I’m sane
I will not go to that dark place again
Will not bow down and just accept the pain
I will not go back
I will not surrender
I’ll learn to live with all I remember
Cherish those few moments that were tender
And I’ll live
No longer am I a victim
No more am I their toy
I hold my head up high each day
I’ve found true love and a better way
And I will live
I will know joy
I’ll go on to give my child love and care
Show her there is hope out there
To bring her happiness I’ve never known
To provide for us a happy home
I know to be untainted and unbroken once more
would take a miracle I know for sure
But I’m okay with myself these days
with my place in the world
and my foot in the door
Because I now have hope
I now have love
and I dont really need much else at all…

somedays are easier than others.
I just keep looking at that beautiful face on my little girl, she needs me, and I’m gonna be here for her!

The most important line in this poem (in my opinion) is this: “I’ll go on to give my child love and care”. We can all learn from our past and hopefully ensure it doesn’t happen again to our own children.

as you know alot of my fears these days is that Zafyre will grow up to be hurt by others. I’ll do my best to teach her good judgement and morals, and love and all the beautiful wonderful traits that make the human race worth being here.
I try not to be bitter ot tainted by my past, try to be what my heart wants me to be, i still have so much love to give…

the butterflies, someone pointed out to me that they are a symbol of change, of possibility… i suppose in this piece they symbolise my resolve to move forward, and all the wonderful possibilities that can be there for me if i open my eyes to them.

I’ll never be popular or have heaps of friends or any of that ‘movie type’ lifestyle…lol
but I do have love from those few in my life that mean the world to me, and it gives me strength!
and yes you are one of them!
and all the support and good vibes I recieve from my new found friends here has been wonderful!
Hopefully one day I will get the chance to meet them all in person!
