Good on ya, Jodi. A beautiful painted tribute to the so many ‘everyday heroes’ of this terrible tragedy. Their courage, bravery and spirit fill me with so much pride. They are indeed true heroes. Nice work mate :-)

    Thanx Keiran!
I appreciate your commenting alot! :)
Its strange to feel such despair at all the loss, and yet be filled with a sense of pride, for our country.. of how selfless and , well, heroic, these fighters are… all the people who have gone thru the fires, they all deserve the upmost respect and honour…

A few days back we went thru the house to find anything we could donate.. as we dont have any money to offer… but i dunno, i felt there was something else i could do too… so hopefully when people see this they will appreciate the firefighters even just alittle bit more..

A wonderful painting Jodi … totally agree with your words … so many wonderful Aussie heroes down there helping as best they can in this sad time … I feel utterly useless sitting up here in NSW and only wish I were closer to be able to lend a hand. My heart goes out to all Australians who have lost relatives, friends and neighbours in these devastating fires. Hope you & yours are safe.xxoo

    Thanx Chris :)
Its only small, A4 sized… I ran out of large canvases a while ago…
I’ve been thinking of framing it and either giving it to the local hospital, or the local cfa… i dont know… would they want it?
I know what you mean about feeling useless… We are here in Vic, where shane has been working most of the week he has been able to see the smoke, we have family so close to alot of the devastated areas but luckily as far as i know everyone in my family is ok… Part of me wants to drive up there, one of the places, and offer help… but i have to be realistic, i would be more of a hinder than a help with a 2yr old hanging off me… plus i dont want to, invade? i hate when after tragedies people get that morbid curiousity and go sight seeing… does my head in, so i’m really aware of letting peeps have their privacy… but even tho the realist in me knows i cant help anymore than i have, i still feel bad hey…

This is a lovely tribute to the heroes in the CFA who are continuing to do such amazing work during such a devastating time. They are true legends, volunteers who go out and fight for us in rural communities, to preserve our land, our stock, pets, wildlife….our way of life. I understand your feelings of helplessness, you are joined in those feelings by the majority of Australia. We are trying to do what we can here in McLaren Vale (SA), We (the cellar door committee) are collecting donations of toiletries and manchester, which are so needed, trying to raise cash, there is even a couple here who are collecting books which they plan to take over in their horse float! Every little bit you can do will help, and painting this and offering proceeds to the CFA is something really positive for you to do. Stay safe, your state is in our thoughts xx

    Thanx Alexandra!
I dont know anyone personally who has fought in these fires… In past fires i have… But i wanted to show my appreciation and awe for them all…
Its been so.. heartwarming the response from everyone all over the world.. the people banding together to rebulid…
We went thru the place here and piled together all the things we could live without to donate, (i have some pics here of my daughter helping out art of donating ) and aswell as offering the profits (if i sell any) of this painting until april to the cfa, i also ‘donated’ one of my artworks to the pheonix appeal account gaea so we’re trying to do our bit…
thanx again for commenting! it means alot to me! xxox

Jodie your answer to Chris echos everyone’s thoughts & feelings
But register your interest to help. Perhaps in a few days – week they will still be grateful of your help. Go to your local Neighbourhood house and volunteer there assist with their fundraising efforts.
Re this stunning artwork … have you ever seen the Carrum Down’s CFA shed? It is only one truck big but on the south wall is a HUGE artwork of them fighting fires!
The CFA would LOVE this artwork! more so than the hospital.
Bravo for your ability to create it!
    Chookas! xXx

    Thanx adgray :)
I’ve never been to carrum downs fire station.. when zafyre is a little older i’m planning on taking her around to all the places, firestations, police, hospitals, aswell as the zoos and wildlife sanctuaries… i want her to be educated in all areas of how the world works, and understand how if we all work together, we can achieve amazing things!
I think I will give this to the cfa.. there is one in Rye where we live.. apparantly they are a nice bunch there :)
    Thanx again for commenting!
I apprecaite it so much! xox

I think that would be a lovely gesture on your behalf to donate this painting to either … even a local bushfire brigade in one of the affected areas might also appreciate it. Can understand about those that go peer at such tragedies out of morbid curiosity … can’t get my head around those types either. Good to hear that your family is all safe. Take care. Chris xoxoxo

  • dimarie replied

oh yes i must do that this week… take th epainting to the local cfa guys (n gals too of course!)
