I’ll do a proper one one day…

quick pencil sketch of Caroline.
6b pencil used and an F pencil i think it said it was…
Its not very good or hugely accurate because its heaps rushed,
maybe 2 or 5 minutes, was a bit distracted making cuppas at he same time…
border added last minute on ps, as I do like my borders lol…

A days work here, that would be way too many to upload, i think everyone ‘d kick me off their watchlist cos i’d have too much art here…. lol… this is about a few minutes with the pencil, and a minute adding a border, the longest part was uploading it lol!

can u tell me where I can get borders like that Di? I’d like to have something like that so I can use them in my artwork…...not to steal your borders, just to be able to use them for inspiration on my decorative portraits

  • dimarie replied

Havnt I put that up with the work details? hmn, must be tired lol…
No worries, this border is done with brushes dedicated to the public domain…so you are quite welcome to them…spread the love!
some of them require credit given , most dont…
    here
go check it out, and there are so many wonderful ones there…just make sure to read their terms of use!

    Damien Venditti

great work diamrie …. did you do that from the tiny lil profile picture?

  • dimarie replied

    Thanx Damien!
No, I cheated to a degree… lol, was good timing as the dear girl put up a larger pic for the so very talented heroine to do a portrait from…and I’d previously told her awhile back I was gonna draw her…(I was gonna do this cute pic she has of her and her puppy dog on her FB pages, but it ended up being this one instead)...was so very a spare of the moment thing…think i was just seeing if i could make it look like her at all or not, and then kinda dobbed myself in to her for doin it lol…still, i know i could do heaps better if i wasnt soo impatient today lol! (going on 24hours now, i just cannot seem to sleep)

  • dimarie replied

hmn…that came out alot more whack sounding than intended lol…
short answer, no, not from her lil avatar pic, but from the larger version currently in her portfolio! :)

looks accurate in its own special way to me anyway, love it…just getting into pencil myself tell me, 6b and f are they really soft?

  • dimarie replied

    Thanx Steph!
Your very kind! I’m very critical of my own work lol…
6b are soft yea, i think? they are dark!
I’m not overly ‘educated’ on the variety of pencil shades, as I’ve always just used whatever is layin around…but lately I bought myself a set of greyleads from the art supply place as the safeways only had HB and my man kept telling me I needed to use 6B’s cos he thought my drawings would come up better and he was right!
So I recommend the 6B! but then i usually only draw a picture with the one shade pencil, if you are learning to use the whole variety for the different shadings, then get yourself a 2H,H,B,F,2B,3B,4B, 5B,6B, and 7B..I think those should cover you! :)
Good luck! I’ll come over and look at your stuff! :)

f not so much, much lighter and harder yea…I didnt realise I was using the “F” until I saw my 6B layin on the table lol, so I changed pencils then cos its a darker one…

  • dimarie replied

thats wierd, the second sentence came out at the end lol….
i’m not sure how i did that lmao

  • cherokee

    lovely work…:)

    Thanx Jo!
    Much appreciated!

  • Steph Granshaw

    Steph Granshaw

Thanx for that. I’ve been using a 2b for everything, LOL…lots to learn.

  • dimarie replied

    You’re welcome!
just be careful not to press too hard with the 6Bs as they are hard to erase if you do that…which makes it harder on light play.. :)

  • carolinewood

    carolinewood

i love your drawing (but i’m not a quickie?) hahahahahaha!

  • dimarie replied

I’m glad you do! I’d be dissapointed if you didnt!:)
As for you, you are definately not a quickie.. lol.
I dare say you would linger on a long time after :)
For someone who said they havnt had anyone draw/paint them before, you’re about to have a few done by different artists, you must feel pretty special! :)
