No longer a maiden,
Not yet a crone,
I am a Mother,
Giver of Life.
With this energy,
I embrace my womanhood,
And I celebrate my femininity,
I heal with my hands,
And I see with my mind.
I feed from my breasts,
And I love from my heart.
Permeated with my sexuality,
I am a Woman of Creation,
The Mother Goddess,
Who gives birth to the world.
From the womb of Ishtar,
the cosmos was born.
And from the breasts of Isis,
We drank and were nourished.
From between the legs of Izanami,
Came the land and the sea.
And Lakshimi’s eternal power,
Makes us abundant and fertile.
Hecate and Aphrodite,
Demeter and Athene,
Our womanhood is personified,
And our psychic energy is harnessed.
We are Goddesses,
Of the Moon, and the Land and the Sky,
As we open our wombs,
For the Life Force to grow.
The Universal Creative Mother is within us all,
Mother Nature and Earth Goddess,
Transferring our energy to the wind and the trees,
And to the waters and the sky.
We embrace each other as sisters,
And we know we connected by our womanhood.
Across Time and around the world,
Our sisterhood is Divine because we are women.
We lift each other up,
And heal each other’s hurts.
We love the sacred in one another,
And together, we praise our feminine flow.
Our hearts bleed when we see our sisters
In places with no freedom and no rights.
They have no value,
Other than as the bearers of sons.
With no control over their lives,
Our souls cry
As we watch them imprisoned
Behind their veils.
But we chant and we wail, hands up to the sky,
In testimony of their spirit and great courage,
That will never be broken,
Because they are women.
Together as women, we laugh, we bleed and we cry.
Like Mary the Mother of God,
We are Divine and give birth to the Divine.
Each one of us a priestess, each one of us magical.
With our wisdom, we understand what is sacred.
We know that our Power deals directly with Life.
We produce and we nourish,
And our natural rhythms keep us connected.
We dance and we sing in celebration.
We cover ourselves with music and colours and scents.
We bleed with the phases of the Moon,
And our centrality in Life cannot be denied.
We alone have the power for Life.
We alone parallel the seasonal changes of Mother Earth.
We alone can walk in the great role of Motherhood,
Where Life springs forth from the ripeness of our holy place.
Large bellies, full breasts and strong thighs,
We are Life itself.
We are sexuality in fertility and in ecstasy.
We are Nature’s art made from the Earth.
Kujum-Chatu, Divine Mother
Kuma & Eve, the first Women
Nammu, Goddess of the Sea
Gaia, the Mother of the Earth.
By all of our names
And all of our guises,
We come together in spirit,
And we are One.
But for me now, gone is the blood of my maidenhood.
The young, virgin has grown and has found her strength.
Behind me I leave Diana and Artemis, as I lay down my horn.
I turn from the crescent moon and transform into the Mother.
I have now become the powerful warrior woman,
Lady of the Wild and of the Earth.
I am the Goddess of the Full Moon, my belly swollen with Life.
I have come into my power and I know what is sacred.
And one day, I will cease to bleed with the moon,
And I will become the Crone.
And for this my arms are open,
And my spirit is willing.
I will hold my power and my wisdom close,
As my energies wane,
And I will disappear
Into the dark night of Death.
I know that the Earth will take me Home,
And that one day I will be reborn again.
Like a jewel in the sky, I will be fresh and virginal.
And the great cycle of Life will go on.
