This is our Supreme Court of Justice & Appeals, built in 1888 by Guglielmo Calderini.
For many visitors to Rome, this building is a tourist attraction.
However in Rome, we refer to it as Il Palazzaccio (the Big, Ugly Palace) because of its harsh architectural lines and excessive decoration. The building is so heavy that each year it sinks further into the ground.
Palazzo di Giustizia is on the National Monument Register of Italy and is heritage listed.
Wow hun, that’s some pretty interesting info! Great shot too! I would be there in a shot, like a typical tourist! It’s beautiful!
Thank you my darling……..ok, when you come to Rome, we will go and see it, but we won’t spend too long there as there are many more beautiful places…..like Castel Sant’Angelo nearby!! Plus, we will need to eat…..so we will go to the pizzeria of my husband’s uncle in Piazza Navona just around the corner!! We will have more fun there!!! hihihihi!! Big hug!!
My sweet, you can be Italian like me if you want!! Just talk really loudly, wave your hands about everywhere, eat good food, dress with style, criticize everything, be over-emotional and talk about sex a lot! Now you’re Italian!! hihihihi!!
Cool architectire! Wonderful angle and treatment! magnificent work!
thanks honey!! Although, not one of my favourite buildings for so many reasons (mainly because it blocks the view of the beautiful Castel Sant’Angelo), but I can appreciate its interesting and intricate architecture…….a little Renaissance, a little Neoclassical, and a little Baroque…….. xxxxxx

The Palace of Justice sinking slowly into the ground, I’m sure there is a metaphor somewhere in that! Great image and background.
ohhh Andrew…..it’s Italy!! If there isn’t innuendo flying about, there are metaphors!! hihihihi!! Glad you like this one!!
