First phase of a digital artwork created using Painter v10, for a WWF numsimatic envelope design (incorporates a clear window containing a coin) for Togo.
This is only part of the final artwork, which will include a left profile of the turtle’s head in the bottom right of the composition. The circular window containing the coin (which I also designed) will occupy the space bottom left. This is why the composition appears to be ‘top heavy’ but I chose to leave it this way rather than crop it. I will post the final artwork, when I have completed the second phase, showing the head. I may also post a cropped version of this phase, in case anyone is interested in a print or card of it in landscape format.
Incidentally, despite still being in the throes of moving house, ending one relationship and rekindling another, I was still able to pump this out, even though it took twice as long to paint as usual.
Not seeking praise for doing so. I just wanted to show that it’s possible to remain creative in a chaotic environment, if you can keep focussed.
It may not be easy, but it is possible.

I have been a freelance illustrator for over 40 years. For the last 10 years or so, I have been working exclusively digitally, using Corel Painter x V on PC. I do NOT manipulate photographs to create my paintings. I use photos for reference purposes only.

Good point you made re staying creative in a chaotic environment. Focus when it comes to creativity is something I definitely don’t lack. Thanks for your insight O x

  • I usually manage to do it a lot more easily, but at least I did eventually.X

Owen…WOW! Was just thinking about you and hoping things are getting better. Your work is always so inspiring and beautiful. Great to see you

  • Thanks Rosie. Nice to know I can create something you consider ‘inspirational’, in the circumstances. Very kind of you to say so. Once again, it appears that creativity and adversity are strange bedfellows. X

    that turtle looks content…….

  • I guess turtles don’t have too much to be discontented about, plus they can take their homes with them wherever they go. That has to be something to be contented about. XX
