I just HAD to post this, to show you that I too have ‘issues’ with James Cameron et al. This is a page from an early version of my Style Bible for my proposed animated tv series entitled ‘Nemesis’ which you can check out via the link on my biog.
As you can see it shows a BLUE character called Prince Chik, but my character was conceived in 1995, years before Avatar was even a figment of Cameron’s imagination. You might also notice ( if the text is legible here) that the island he lives on is named ‘Nomanzann’ which again, I thought up in 1995, long before Brad Bird came up with it for ‘The Incredibles’ (as ‘Nomanizan’ Island) Both are derived from the famous John Donne quote ‘No man is an island, entire of itself’ (c1595) but as Donne’s been dead 500 years, I don’t think either of us will have a problem with him!. However… I’m sorry Mr Bird, and Mr Cameron but I came up with these ideas LONG before either of you did!
So, do I sue them both for pinching MY ideas and breaching MY copyright? I reckon I have a damn strong case and have documentary evidence to back it up, BUT I won’t be suing anyone and do you know why? Simple. Up against these guys, you have NO CHANCE.
Irony is, if my series ever gets made, I could possibly get sued by THEM and even if I didn’t, people would assume ( wrongly) I pinched the ideas from ‘Avatar’ and ‘The Incredibles’.
Can you even begin to imagine how pissed that makes me?
