First of 4 digital artworks created for a WWF FDC envelope issue. Weird as it may sound, there really is a bird who is named after the girth of it’s knees, which, I have to say, don’t look that thick to me…as bird’s knees go…

    Beautiful portrayal, very realistic and nice colours, must keep my eye out for the FDC too. I collected quite alot of them and have 2 folders full, not for a long time now though :O)

    We have 2 types in South Africa.
    Spotted Thick Knee & A Water Thick Knee, your image is like our Water Thick Knee . Our common name for the is “Dikkop” which means “Thick Head”

    O, you’ve done it again… your painting is perfection. love the look on the bird’s face…. and the colors are outstanding… i have never heard of a thick knee either… must not have them on the east coast of the USA either… i think i’ll look them up and see what i can find… fabulous work… well done!! b.
