The crunch of the summer dryness
brings dreams in the hazy heat
gentle slopes of mountain fields
green beneath your feet

I pray you will stay with me
through the harshness of the sun
and together we shall see
the bounty of our run

Happily I will labour on
with the dream there in my sight
lush cool mountains of rich green growth
fueling the strength of my might

Together we shall grow fruitful
with constant toil the years will pass
our twilight years will be well blessed
when the life returns to the grass

I like how the foreground looks like harsh reality and the back ground looks like a hazy summer dreampt paradise!
Very Gorgeous! & very meaningful to me!
(I have a dream to live up the hill country … I’ll get there eventually!)

  • Hi Chookas,
A wonderful poem to compliment my painting. You are so generous.
I am glad this work has evoked a special feeling for you.

Last week poet asked if he could use my work as a picture to support his video poem on you tube… (haven’t seen it yet though) It a great idea though

Ditto to what Lynda said Diko…this is a beautiful painting…such an inviting scenic view!

  • Hi Linda,
I love the texture and distance in this one. I love valleys but find them very difficult to paint.

Great looking work Ditto. Like the colours you used to get the far off distance look. Very well done and very beautiful painting.

  • Hi Again Jim,
I was very firm with the brushstrokes on this one.
Thanks for your appreciation and great comments.

    hahahahahaha
I came to look at this for what I thought was the first time
thinking “Gosh this one’s good!”and a line was coming to my mind
The crunch of the summer dryness brings dreams in the hazy heat
but just before I typed it again I noticed it would be a repeat
for here in my comment of earlier I’d written in full poetical verse
which tells me that this is definitely a classic to favour of course!

hahahahaha I didn’t mean the rhyming honest!
But then I am a poet! lol =0þ
☼ Congrats on the feature! ☼

    I wasn’t away it was you that went to Bali and left me here all alone without even a postcard of your trip! {sniff!}
Mind you I have absolutely NO desire whatsoever to go to Bali or Singapore or any of the Asian islands! My bro just came back from Singapore and said it was amazing but I still have no urge to go!
And I do notice (eventually) but you’ve been sneaky and hiding the new ones back in your gallery! HUMPH! lol =0þ

  • Hi Chookas,
We were lucky we got out of there alive … Alcohol poisoning!!! Those margaritas are deadly. Oh, and those large coconut thingies…
Can be a dangerous life when you travel with a group of people…
Bali is a marvelous place, but I understand your feelings. There are places I don’t have any desire to go to as well. Won’t mention them as I don’t want to offend anyone. I need wide open spaces generally to please my sense of freedom.

    Sorry for lack of postcards…
