Artist's Description

This is a digital colored pencil drawing from a photograph of mine – taken very close to the banks of the Panama Canal.

The top butterfly is an Anartia Fatima common name: Banded Peacock.
Habitat: Subtropical open and disturbed areas such as fields, weedy places, orchards, and second growth.

Range: Panama north through Central America to Mexico. Wanders and occasionally colonizes to central and South Texas.

The lower one is a White Peacock (Anartia jatrophae.) It is found in the southeastern United States, Central America, and throughout much of South America.

Lantana is a genus of about 150 species of perennial flowering plants, native to tropical regions of the Americas, Africa and existing as an imported weed in numerous regions including Australia, New Guinea and Hawaii.
