BEST VIEWED LARGE
As a boy, I passed this Mail Pouch barn many, many times. Over the years of living all over the country and moving back to Pa, I would pass it and want to take pics. While on a photo weekend I came across it and was heart-broken to see that it collapsed. I now carry a camera in the passenger seat so I will never pass up an opportunity to take a shot. This was a BIG learning experience for me. Shot this photo with a Nikon D5000 55-200mm Nikkor. Enhanced, colorized and textured in PSP X3. Thank you so much for looking!

My Name is Donnie. I won my first Johnny Quest camera through The Pittsburgh Press at age 6 and since then there was no looking back. I have 2 passions in my simple life. Spending time with my little girl and taking and editing photographs. I started editing photo’s about 2 years ago and I still have so much to learn. I love seeing beautiful and strive to shoot it. Any comments and or advise from you is very appreciated and most welcomed. Thank you for looking!

The stories this old barn would tell I am sure are amazing!! I am sorry that you lost your opportunity to capture this building when you were younger…great lesson learned though!! I love what you have done to this one to enhance it! The textured background is perfect for it!! Great work my dear friend!! :)

  • Thank you so Very Much for the wonderful compliment and fave Melissa :) Yes…it was a big lesson learned!!! It will never happen again, I promise!!! lol…

Lessons learned? Yep, been there, done that, got the tee shirt (old expression)! We’ve got areas around Knoxville that are undergoing topographical changes… loss of barns, trees, and all that goes into a nice country scene, pisses me off. But not much I can really do about, except vent, lol! Some of these areas could have been on the other end of my camera lens… But Nooooo! Lessons learned! This capture, Donnie, is still a good one with lots of history behind it. I have one like this in my RB collection called, After the Blast. Nice work with a funny title, buddy, a sure fav!!!

  • Well I hope you are getting shots of these disappearing barns Bob, sounds like Knoxville is growing just like everywhere else. It’s such a shame… the descendants of family are selling out history for cash. Thank you for the nice compliment and fave. I will have to check out your photo :) Donnie~

It is so sad to see old places like this that are so full of memories and history just to be left to the elements and fall to ruin. Great capture and very well done!

  • Thank you so much for your very kind words Vivian :) As a contractor, what you say is so true. But I would rather see Nature do this than it getting bull-dozed over for a new development. So happy you like my photo Vivian!
